As the multimedia lead on the Sun-Times editorial board, I produced and coordinated production of video versions of the board’s editorials. These video versions supplemented the printed version with additional commentary and offered a chance to spotlight the people and places covered in a unique and comprehensive way. Note: These videos were housed at AP, which has deleted these videos from their online archive.
For the past several years, I have covered issues related to innocence and wrongful convictions, including the trial of former Chicago Police Lt. Jon Burge, noted for carrying on a conspiracy of suspect torture that resulted in several wrongful convictions in Chicago. I have also covered the case of Johnnie Lee Savory, a client of the Northwestern University Center on Wrongful Convictions. Savory, convicted at age 14 of killing his friends, has sought DNA testing to clear his name. In addition to columns, I also created this slideshow presentation to illustrate Savory’s story.
